I'm Ben Hershkowitz, a CPA in Ra'anana. Nine years running finance inside startups (SaaS, FinTech, MedTech) after auditing them at EY.
A small number of companies at a time, and I do the work myself.
Not a junior with my name on the invoice.
Full background on LinkedInAnything else, ask on the call.
Yes, and it's what I'd suggest. Scope and fee in writing, an end date, and you see how I work before committing to anything ongoing.
Plenty of engagements stop there. Better for both of us than a retainer neither can justify in month four.
No. They're far cheaper than I am at processing and payroll, and you need that layer. What's missing is the reviewer above it: someone who makes the technical calls and owns the output.
One named person who knows your business. No rotating bench, and no partner who sells while an associate delivers. I sit on your side of the table with your other providers.
For owning finance at this stage, yes, once the process is built. Where it isn't, I'll say so on the first call. Audit, diligence or a migration run at a higher cadence for a defined window.
That's usually when the call happens. I go straight to the request list, work out what's at risk, and we fix the close properly afterwards.
A project is a fixed fee, quoted in writing before it starts. The number doesn't move.
Ongoing is a monthly retainer based on entities, systems and audit load. A fraction of a senior hire, with no lock-in beyond notice either way.
Thirty minutes. Tell me what's coming and I'll tell you whether there's a project worth doing.
